I am currently manufacturing and selling physical products AND some of the test images from the project.
I will release one file (or fileset) as a free download for every $2000 worth of prints that I sell.
Once I sell $300,000 worth of prints in this set, the complete set of files to print the CAMERADACTYL Master System will be released. At that time I will make printing and assembly instruction videos for Youtube.
I will also package all the files into a neat single download, and go back to my list of photomachines that I would love to design.
All of the pictures for sale are one of a kind original direct positives, either BW or RA-4 Reversal prints. They’re pictures of my friends and family and me most days when I worked alone in my garage. Each one marks a defect to be corrected in photo process or processor or both. They get ‘better’ chronologically, until I could eventually make very good reproductions of JC Penny portraits. At that point, the Master System was ready to release and the photo project ends. no two sets are processed exactly the same, nor will I go back to those technical process errors. The errors are the raison d’etre for the photos in the first place, and they are beautiful to me. The pics are significant to me because they represent people who supported me through the project, and I hope they will become historically significant as the first set on the format, and the first prolific use of the RA-4 reversal process. At a minimum, I thought it would be nice to sneak them along with my own head into the instruction manual for this thing, so that people will download us all with their photoprocessors.
